Mineville — John J. Petro Sr., 63, of Fisher Hill Road, Mineville died Friday, April 9, 2005, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born July 9, 1941, in Mineville, N.Y., the son of Adam and Josephine (Galick) Petro.

He was retired from International Paper Co. in Ticonderoga after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Still Bank Collectors Club of America. He served in the United States Airforce and the U.S. Marines Corpes.

John enjoyed his family, love of his animal, collecting and looking for arrowheads, going to garage sales, auctions and collecting old furniture. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Sherman) Petro; his son, John Jr. and Paula Petro; his daughter, DanielIe (Petro) and Jamie Anson; two grandchildren, John J. Petro III and Derek Petro; his brothers, Adam and Joan Petro, Billy and Kathy Petro, Edward and Beverly Petro and Ronald and Mary Petro; his sisters, Donna and Richard Wallingford, Sandra and Anthony Bianco; his mother and father-in-law, Susan and Fayette Sherman; brothers-in-law, Dick and Ellie Sherman, James and Carol Sherman, Donald and Donna Sherman; sister-in-law, Fayline and Gary Rancour; many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Adam and Josephine Petro; and his first wife, Nicole (Riendeau) Petro.
