Chief Warrant Officer Vaughan was born in Wallingford, Connecticut. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 10 January 1986 and reported to MCRD Parris Island, SC on 26 February 1986. Upon graduation from recruit training on 22 May 1986, he reported to Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, CA where he attended the five-week Managed On-The-Job Training course in Sassy Organic Procedures and Basic Warehousing. In August 1986, Private First Class Vaughan was transferred to 3rd FSSG Okinawa Japan and served a 1-year overseas tour with 3rd Landing Support Battalion.

              In August 1987, Lance Corporal Vaughan returned to the U.S. and was assigned to 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC as a warehouseman. In April and May of 1988, Lance Corporal Vaughan attended the Enlisted Warehouse Intermediate Course at Camp Johnson and then returned to 2d Reconnaissance Battalion and assumed the duties as Warehouse Chief. During the next three years, Lance Corporal Vaughan participated in two Eastern Division Rifle Matches, served as a rifleman on the Battalion Color Guard, and was crossed trained in supply administration, which later earned him a secondary MOS of 3043. In April 1989, he was promoted to Corporal and in October, re-enlisted with a duty station incentive that he used to remain at his current command.

              In July 1991, Corporal Vaughan was transferred back to Okinawa Japan for a 1 year overseas tour with 7th Communication Battalion, 3rd Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Intelligence Group. Upon his tour completion, he was transferred back to Camp Lejeune, NC and was assigned to 2d Supply Battalion, 2d FSSG.

              Upon his arrival in September 1992, Corporal Vaughan was attached to the Supply Company office where he assumed the billet as Operations and Training Chief. In January 1993, he was promoted to Sergeant and re-enlisted for the second time on 10 November of the same year with the incentive of a lateral move to 3043. In May 1994, Sergeant Vaughan reported to MCSSS Camp Johnson for Enlisted Supply Basic Course and graduated in July with a 99.67% average, earning him a Certificate of Achievement from the Marine Corps Association. Returning to Supply Battalion, Sergeant Vaughan was transferred to the SMU where he was assigned as the NCOIC for IIP.

              In March 1995, Sergeant Vaughan was assigned as the Supply Administrative Chief for MSSG-22, 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit. In January 1996, 22d MEU departed Morehead City, NC for deployment LF6F 1-96 during which they would perform numerous exercises in Albania, Croatia, Spain, Italy, France, Republic of Georgia, and two missions taking them to Bosnia and Liberia. In April 1997, Sergeant Vaughan was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and deployed for a second time with 22d MEU for LF6F 2-97 which conducted operations such as Guardian Retrieval in the Congo, Noble Obelisk in Sierra Leone, and Silver Wake in Albania.

              In June 1998, Staff Sergeant Vaughan was transferred to Inspector-Instructor Staff, 2d Battalion, 25th Marines in Garden City, NY where he served as the Battalion Supply Chief. In February 1999, he deployed to Norway for the unit’s annual training and participation in Battle Griffin-99. During June and July 2000, he once again deployed with 2/25 for their annual training package, which was conducted at Fort Knox, KY. In September 2000, Staff Sergeant Vaughan was selected for Warrant Officer and appointed on 1 February 2001. Upon completion of Ground Supply Officer’s Course, Warrant Officer Vaughan was transferred to Okinawa Japan in July 2001 for a three-year tour as the Assistant Supply Officer for 7th Communication Battalion, III MEF.

              In August 2002, Chief Warrant Officer Vaughan was promoted to his present rank and in July 2004, was transferred to 1st Supply Battalion, Combat Service Support Group 15 at Camp Pendleton, CA. During August 2004, he deployed with the Gold Team in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom-II where he served as the SMU Customer Service OIC and AOIC of SMU Operations.

              Chief Warrant Officer Vaughan’s personal awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, (with two gold stars in lieu of third award) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, (with two gold stars in lieu of third award) Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation with 1 star, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal with 4 stars, National Defense Service Medal with 1 star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, (with one sliver star and two bronze stars in lieu of eighth award) and NATO Medal.

              Chief Warrant Officer Vaughan would like to give thanks to his father Mr. Richard Vaughan, of Westport, NY, mother Ms. Bonita Vaughan, of Mineville, NY, and daughter Miss Karleena Vaughan, of Lewis, NY for their endless love and support. He would like to recognize his wife Angela who having been a Marine herself knows the sacrifices, responsibilities, and courage needed to serve.
